Hello, guys! As you guys know, Mrs.K showed us a really shocking video about the process of products being created and disposed. I put the video here in case you guys want to see it again.
After seeing this video, these were some of the things I was surprised at:
1. There are 4 billion pounds of pollution being made only in the process of production every year only in the U.S.
2. Only 1% of the things we buy are kept after 6 months, meaning 99% of the stuff we buy go to trash after 6 months.
3. Companies do planned obsolescence, or they are "designed for the dump" meaning companies make their products not usable for long so they buy other products and make more money.
4. Companies also do something called perceived obsolescence, meaning that they make things look different a bit later so they buy another thing again.
5. We see over 3,000 ads every day
6. Everyone makes 4.5 pounds of pollution every day.
7. Companies intentionally make their products so it cannot be recycled
These are only few of the many things I was surprised at. What were you guys surprised at? Leave it in the comments!
